Why does it make sense to visit an advocate?

In my profession I often witness situations when people seek the help of an advocate (solicitor) only after they actually get in trouble. This probably issues from the deeply rooted image (incorrect one, by the way) of advocates as expensive and inaccessible so that you only have to go there when you really are in a serious trouble. However, in such situations it is often impossible to sort out the problem completely and all we can do is just to mitigate the impacts. In this aspect, advocates (solicitors) are similar to medical doctors. If you visit a doctor only after you start feeling very sick, you might not be completely healed, just fixed and forced to live with problems. Everyone is aware of that, we take great care of our health, and therefore it is better to visit the doctor before problems occur. The same applies to legal relations and finance. For instance the lawyer cannot apply any “magic” to turn an invalid contract into valid one.

An investment into advocacy always pays back. Due to their knowledge and experience, advocates prepare a “bespoke” solution for the client, either completely eliminating or substantially mitigating the possible problems.

I see my profession of an advocate (solicitor) as my life mission, the purpose of which is mainly to protect the clients beforehand (preventively) to make sure they don't not get into any trouble.

The new Civil Code

On 1 January 2014 a new Civil Code came into force that dramatically changes all the related legal regulations. The Civil Code itself contains an unbelievable number of 3,081 paragraphs.
The new Civil Code introduces great freedom into private legal relations, enabling parties to arrange their mutual relationship as they wish, be it a family, common citizens, or business people. This freedom, however, comes with increased responsibility. There is one general rule in law – the watchful ones are in the right (vigilantibus iura scripta sunt). A single provision in a contract, for instance, may bind you to observe inconvenient conditions or drop your future right. It is therefore all the more important, or perhaps necessary, to consult all legal actions with an advocate (solicitor).

My services in the newly introduced civil law:

  • consultations e.g. in property law, family law, industrial law, inheritance, and business law
  • preparation of new and revision of existing contracts
  • legal representation
  • and more
